Renowned actor Siddharth, known for his candid expression on pertinent issues, recently addressed the dialogue surrounding his 2023 film ‘Chithha’ during a public event.

In his remarks, he indirectly took a dig at Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’, to underscore his point.

At the JFW event, Siddharth articulated, “No woman has ever approached me or Arun (‘Chithha’ director) and expressed discomfort with the film. However, many men have confessed their reluctance to watch it, citing its disturbing nature. Interestingly, they endorse films like Animal but find my film too unsettling. It’s not merely disturbance; it’s reflective of shame and guilt.”

The continuous targeting of ‘Animal’ within Tamil discourse is becoming tiresome and repetitive. Siddharth might be right, but mentioning ‘Animal’ doesn’t really help.

It may give the impression that Tamil folks are jealous and insecure because ‘Animal’ was directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, a Telugu director, and achieved huge pan-India success.

Rather than dwelling on ‘Animal’, it’s better for them to support Tamil cinema and stay away from Sandeep Reddy Vanga and his Animal.
