Richa told in a chat on the All About Eve podcast that when she told her mother about dating Ali during early days of their relationship, her mother mixed up Ali Fazal with Ali Zafarand looked up the wrong guy online.Richa recalled her mother calling her alarmed and telling her that Ali is married and had two kids.
Her mom also told Richa that Ali was from Lahore. Richa later made her mom understand that Ali Fazal and Ali Zafar are two different people. She told him that the man she was looking up online was a Pakistani singer and actor. Richa also shared that when her mother met Ali for the first time, she had a warm reaction and even told the actress, ‘bada sundar hai’.
Richa used to make jokes about how her distant relatives frequently asked her about when she would get married. In a podcast, when someone asked her how she managed to stop these questions, she humorously advised, “Just date someone from a different religious background, and people will stop asking.” Richa explained that it was mainly her extended family members who asked about her marriage plans, as her parents never pressured her to get married.
Richa and Ali got married under the special Marriage Act in 2020 during the pandemic and celebrated their union in 2022 along with their close friends and family members. Richa and Ali are set to appear in a documentary about their wedding called “RiAlity.”
