Salman Khan, one of Bollywood’s most celebrated stars, has attributed the box office failure of his 2023 film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan to discounted ticket prices. In a recent interview, Khan expressed his belief that the film’s lower-than-expected earnings were a result of conscious efforts to keep ticket prices affordable for audiences.

Salman Khan BREAKS SILENCE on Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan debacle; blames discounted prices

“When these films were released, people were not going to theatres,” Khan stated in a roundtable interview, quoted by The Indian Express. “Moreover, we didn’t do blockbuster prices. We were going for popular prices.”

“Our box office numbers were lower in those films but we focused on saving the audience’s money. How much did you watch Tiger 3 at? Rs 600, 1000?” Khan asserted. Khan further explained that while the film’s box office numbers were lower, they made a conscious decision to keep ticket prices below Rs 250 to make the film more accessible to a wider audience.

He said, “For Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and Antim, our prices were not over Rs 250. Ek toh achha karo bhai. Humare number kam aa rahe hai, lekin audiences ka paisa bach raha hai (We earned less, but we saved the audiences money in that process. We did a good deed). If Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan had been released today, the numbers would have been a lot more than what they were.”

Coming to the professional front, as mentioned above, Khan’s recent film Tiger 3 is currently playing in theatres. He has a bunch of projects in his kitty including The Bull, which will be produced under Karan Johar-owned Dharma Productions. He will also reunite with Sooraj Bharjatya for a film.
