Gaganyaan Mission LIVE: The stakes are much higher this time because human lives will be involved.
Attempting to prepare for every possibility, which is now a part of its ethos, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will carry out an abort test for the human space mission, Gaganyaan, today.
A similar fail-safe approach had been taken for Chandrayaan-3 and had helped ISRO script history by making India the first country to land nearer the south pole of the Moon in August. The stakes, though, are much higher this time because the lives of humans will be involved.
Gaganyaan’s crew module escape system will be live tested from Sriharikota. This is the first of the 20 big tests that ISRO has planned for the near future. All in an effort to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s target that ISRO sets up an Indian Space Station by 2035 and launch Indian astronaut to the Moon by 2040.

ISRO chief S Somnath said the test was halted due to monitoring anomaly, they identified and fixed it quickly.
ISRO chief S Somnath said he is very happy to announce successful accomplishment of the mission.
He said the purpose of the mission was to demonstrate the crew escape system and its functioning.
He said all of this has been very well accomplished.
Further, the crew module being reached in the sea and being brought to land by ship is being carried out, he said.
Reason for the launch hold is identified and corrected.
The launch is planned at 10:00 Hrs. today.

The liftoff of a test vehicle with crew safety related payloads connected to the ambitious Gaganyaan human space flight mission on Saturday could not happen as planned following an anomaly which will be analysed, ISRO chief S Somanath said.
Engine ignition of the TV-D1 rocket did not happen in the course of time.
After suffering delays twice, totaling 45 minutes, the rocket failed to liftoff from the spaceport here at 8.45 am, even as a “hold” signal flashed across the screens at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre while the final countdown was on.

ISRO chief S Somanath said they will come back soon after analysing what triggered the automatic launch sequence holding the vehicle on TV-D1 launch.

ISRO on Saturday rescheduled the launch of its maiden Test Vehicle for the Gaganyaan human space flight mission by 30 minutes from the spaceport here.
Test Vehicle D1 mission was scheduled for a lift-off from the first launch pad at 8 am which was revised to 8.30 am.
“The lift-off is rescheduled at 08:30 Hrs. IST,” an ISRO update on ‘X’ said. An announcement to this effect was also made at the Mission Control Centre.
While the reason for the change in timing was not known immediately, sources said it might be due to rainfall and cloudy weather conditions.
