A clip has been shared on social media in which a Pakistan fan can be seen arguing with a cop when asked to not chant ‘Pakistan Zindabad’.

A video alleging that a cop in Bengaluru stopped a fan from chanting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ during an ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match between Pakistan and Australia has gone viral on social media.

In the 45-second clip, a cricket fan at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, wearing a Pakistan cricket team jersey, can be seen arguing with a policeman why he cannot cheer for his cricket team that is facing Australia.

He asks why it’s ok to chant ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ but not ‘Pakistan Zindabad’.

In response, the cop can be heard as saying that (chanting) ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ is fine but shouting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ is not good.

“Why not? I have come from Pakistan, Pakistan is playing, what else should I say?” the fan quizzed the cop.

The Pakistan fan then took out his mobile phone and asked the cop to tell him on video that he’s not allowed to say ‘Pakistan Zindabad’.

The Pakistan cricket team received plenty of support during their two warm-up and world cup matches in Hyderabad.

The support was quite evident during the Babar Azam-led side’s historic six-wicket win over Sri Lanka that saw them chase down the highest total in world cup history.

Video of fans replying with chants of ‘Pakistan Jeetega’ in response to the DJ’s ‘Jeetega bhai jeetega’ query at the venue were widely shared on social media.

Even Babar was pleasantly surprised by the experience with users on social media praising the Hyderabad crowd for their attitude. Others encouraged venues across India where Pakistan are slated to play to follow the suit.

The Pakistan team was given quite a reception upon their arrival in India for the tournament last month with their players expressing their happiness over social media.
